When Geneva Logston went missing during an evening walk, things turned bad quickly.
"I wasn't familiar with anything. I just couldn't think how to get home," Logston said.
In her confusion, she slipped and fell, hitting her head and was knocked unconscious. She didn’t have her phone, and her family started what would become a two-day search.
"I was giving up, because, like I said, I had hit my head and was still disoriented. And all I wanted to do was sleep, that's all I wanted to do, was sleep," Logston recounted of the incident.
Then came Pocket, a search-and-rescue terrier with KYK9. Disoriented, Logston believed Pocket's handler, Jennifer Hall, was just someone walking their dog. "Never did I dream Pocket was looking for me, to bring me home," said Logston.
"I just said, ‘Are you Geneva?’ And she said yes. And Pocket was pulling on me really hard," said Hall. "I think some of the family didn't hear she's alive. They heard that they found her and they were like, 'Is she alive? Is she dead?' It was very emotional. She saved Geneva's life."
Logston was taken to University Hospital and treated for what she described as minor injuries.
The pair were recently reunited, and Logston had just a simple message for her canine rescuer: "Thank you, Pocket. Thank you."
